What is coaching?

Let me start with what it’s not:

Coaching uses open questioning, theory and models to encourage clients to explore something of their choice. Sessions are led by the client and what they want to discuss. Coaches hold a safe space for exploration and also hold up a mirror to the client for them to really see themselves.

We’ll either be meeting in person or online at a time that suits you. We’ll say hellos, how are yous and I’ll run through my reminders of my promise to you (info will be kept confidential etc.) Each session starts with the question, ‘what would you like to think about today?’ And then we go from there. Coaching is client-led so I’ll be listening and asking questions to help you discover the answers that are already within you. I will always keep to the time agreed and give a 5-minute heads up when we’re coming to the end where you’ll have a chance to reflect on your main takeaways from the session. We’ll say our goodbyes and hopefully I’ll see you again soon.

This is totally dependent on what you want. Most coaches offer one-off sessions and blocks of sessions. You might come to coaching with one idea of what you want to talk about, and then when you have spoken about it, it turns out you want to explore something totally different so I would say go in with an open mind as to how long you want coaching for. Some people will only have one session, some people will dip in and out and some will have coaching for life.

Yes, I live in Nottingham and have a garden room studio where I host coaching sessions. I also offer walking sessions too if that’s your preference to be out in nature. Drop me a message if you live further out but still want to connect as I’m sure we can work something out and meet halfway. I also offer online coaching via Google Meet.

Yes, this is new for 2024 starting with a Vision Board workshop. Workshops will be held in Nottingham either in a local events space or in my garden room studio. Spaces will be limited so make sure you check the events page (hyperlink) to book on.

Day retreats will be coming in the future so watch this space!
